Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) applauds today's announcement by the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for FEDDEV Ontario that will support the creation of long-term employment in the heart of Canada's manufacturing corridor.
The $20 million to support CME's SMART Advanced Technologies for Global Growth will assist manufacturers who seek to prepare their operations through investment in technologies for advanced industrial processes.
"Minister Goodyear's announcement of the new SMART Advanced Technologies for Global Growth will benefit the bottom line of Ontario manufacturers as it will help them become more productive and more competitive, while enabling them to invest in new, leading-edge technologies," said Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters President and CEO Jayson Myers of the funding.
The program builds on the successes of CME's SMART legacy that has supported more than 730 projects and created or secured more than 16,500 jobs in Southern Ontario.
"Our Government is proud to renew our successful partnership with the CME to ensure manufacturing continues to be an economic engine in Canada, said Minister Goodyear." "This investment will help our region's manufacturers compete in today's global economy and will also support job creation and diversification in our communities."
"We are pleased to partner with the Government of Canada on this important initiative that will help manufacture the future of Ontario," Myers said.
